Sex and the City 2 Beauty Secrets Revealed!

Sex and the City 2 opens in theaters tomorrow people, but you probably already knew that! The ladies looked guh-orgeous at the NYC premiere and I'm not gonna lie, I'm incredibly excited to see my favorite New Yorkers on the big screen again. If you're like me, you've watched every episode of every season about 100 different times each and yet never get sick of the ladies or the show.

So if you're planning on imbibing some delicious Cosmos in their honor, wearing your sexiest heels of course (whether it be Manolos, Jimmy Choos or Payless brand) and want to take it a step further by recreating some of their fab on screen looks I couldn't blame you! In fact, I have the skinny on some of the products used to doll up SJP and Co. straight from the SATC2 makeup artists' beauty arsenal.

Carrie always has the most perfectly piercing smoky eye stare but our favorite fashionista also has the most beautiful Cupid-Bow lips around. The SATC2 makeup team used Stila Lip Enamal Luxe Gloss to emphasize Sarah Jessica Parker's perfect pout. The rich gloss is super conditioning and comes in six shades that have tons of antioxidents and essential oils. The shades include: Joy, Happiness, Giggle, Nirvana, Euphoria and Ecstasy. Price: $22, Available at Sephora.com

Samantha (aka Kim Cattrall) loves her revealing clothing and the makeup team wanted to plump up and rejuvenate the actress's skin to help her look refreshed, sexy and camera-ready at all times. The team used RéVive Moisturizing Renewal Body Lotion. The supreme cream contains a body-specific concentration of Nobel Prize-winning, patented EGF and FGF ingredients, plus a touch of glycolic acid that works together to help retexturize the skin and protect it against free radicals. Price: $185, available at www.reviveskincare.com

To help Cynthia Nixon achieve Miranda’s rosy glow, the makeup team washed By Terry Rose de Rose Sheer Liquid Blush all over her cheeks. The highlighting color warmed the skin, made her complexion flushed and glowing and smoothed out her pores. By Terry is a great brand and I'm told the soft-wear micro-gel liquid texture is easy to blend so I'm excited to add this to my must-have beauty buy list. Price: $52, available at Barneys

To re-create Charlotte's innocent look, the makeup team applied theBalm Stainiac on the apples of her cheeks. The stain is the perfect pop of color and great for the lips and cheeks for a sheer wash. Layer the stain on the skin for a flushed look with added intensity if you're feeling dramatic. Best of all, the color won't stain right away like some other tints so it won't streak or look splotchy on. Price: $15, Available at Sephora an Sephora.com

P.S. Check out my photo of iconic Sex and the City costume designer Patricia Field at the Victor dE Souza show I attended last February for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week! I was so thrilled to meet her!

Peter Thomas Roth Serums!

I had never really tried Peter Thomas Roth products till recently and I now kinda feel like my world has changed. I've been using two serums that literally make my skin feel like a baby's bottom (in beauty lingo this is the highest honor to achieve). Since my skin lacks the "moisture gene", I'm constantly looking for ways to soften it. Both solutions feel velvety on and really penetrates your skin.

Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM is a moisturizing serum with a potent punch of retinol and other skin renewing benefits. It's made with 1.5% retinol yet is totally mild on the skin. I may not be at the age where wrinkles are showing but I'm certainly worried about them anyway. This serum reduces the appearance of fine lines and improves skin tone and texture. It's kinda a miracle in a bottle! Best of all, it seriously moisturizes the skin. For reals, this stuff works.

My other latest skin-obsession (skin-session) is the brand's growth factor neuropeptide serum, Peter Thomas Roth FIRMx. I'm not gonna lie, it's pricey but that's how serums go and this one is more than worth it. This is another great all around serum to improve skin texture, provide moisture, add firmness, texture, tone and general skin radiance. You only need a few pumps to cover your face. The key ingredient, Growth Factor Extreme, is a synthetically bioengineered growth factor that activates the skin's natural repair mechanisms so your skin will look defined, contoured and generally even. This is a great serum if your skin is uneven or spotty from acne scarring, sun discoloration or age spots. If these aren't your major issues, you'll still love it because of how amazing your skin looks and how lightweight the serum feels on. This fab product will seriously make you feel like you've just had a mini face lift.

Both PTR products really make my skin glow and get my Beauty Buff seal of approval!

Sex and The City 2 Premiere!

I'm so excited for the movie to come out! I'm a total die-hard fan, aren't we all!? All the SATC2 ladies looked amazing last night at the NYC premiere! SJP wore a vintage Valentino neon masterpiece, Kristin Davis opted for a Jean Desses shocking pink stunner, Cynthia Nixon kept it simple in a black strapless Carolina Herrera and Kim Cattrall sparkled in a signature Naeem Khan column with a plunging neckline. Whose outfit did you like best? Did SJP wow you? I say YES! Are you as excited for the sequel as I am!? I don't care how good or bad it is, I'm going to walk out of the theater raving about how much I loved it!

My Latest Eco-Obsession-Korres

My good friend recently introduced me to the world of organic beauty products and I've been hooked ever since. She's a connoisseur of all things eco and whether its recyclable packaging, synthetic free dyes or paraben-free ingredients she knows what's natural and fabulous. She herself is hooked and got me totally obsessed with Korres. The Greek all-natural brand is based out of the country's oldest homeopathic pharmacy and uses environmentally friendly and skin suitable formulations. What I really love is how yummy and fragrant the main ingredients in many of the products are: guava, sugar, cinnamon and yogurt.

I can't wait to test out the whole line but in the meantime here are a few new favorite finds:

Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturizer SPF 6-This thick and creamy moisturizer feels like a slathering of cooling refreshment on the skin. I literally want to sigh in relief when the cream touches my face. It doesn't hurt that the unique blossom smell is equally soothing on my nostrils. This moisturizer feels cool and calming-great during the humid summer months.

Quercetin & Oak Age-reversing Primer-I'm always looking for a great primer that will make my makeup last all night but still feel lightweight and airy on the skin. I think I may have found that with this amazing concoction. The primer settles into your pores-filling them so they're invisible to the naked eye and doesn't feel cakey or goopy on. The anti-aging solution which uses Quercetin and Oak Age also keeps your makeup put and adds a luster to your skin.

Beauty On The Run With The Beauty Buff-Airbrush Makeup With Luminess Air!

At Fashion Week this year I attended Project Runway alum, Althea Harper's show for her début line. The show was fantastic and as a beauty blogger, I was especially blown away by how ethereal, and flawless the models' skin looked. I spoke to makeup pro, Kristen Arnett who filled me in on how they achieved their gorgeous glow and seemingly perfect skin. The look was android chic and the makeup contrasted deep, blood black lips with creamy pale skin using the airbrush system, Luminess Air. Airbrush makeup was previously reserved just for makeup artists (who had the professional service in the repertoire) to do for special occasions like weddings and wasn't very accessible for people at home. Then all of a sudden, brands caught on that people wanted to achieve an airbrushed look themselves in a way that was easy and relatively affordable. Brands like Luminess Air and Temptu came out with their own systems that people could purchase and use in the comfort of their own homes.

I'm a huge fan of airbrush makeup and was thrilled when I found out I'd be able to try out a Luminess Air system for myself. I was amazed at how compact the entire kit was and how quick it took to actually use the system and for that Luminess Air gets my Beauty on the Run With The Beauty Buff seal of approval! The entire kits fits into an adorable metallic carrying case and comes with a wide range of foundation colors to suit every skin tone. There's an instructional DVD (very needed) included and online video tutorials to help you get started and once you become familiar with how to use the tools-namely the actual airbrush pen, the set up and execution takes about five minutes. That's how long it takes for me to find my foundation in my makeup bag half the time! Once you get comfortable, the entire process (set up, use and cleaning it) takes 7-10 minutes total! Seriously this is a no brainer!

Beauty Buzz With Bobbie Thomas

The Today Show's Style Editor and frequent red carpet correspondent, Bobbie Thomas may look and act like a style expert but she's not and she doesn’t want to be labeled as one! Instead the totally fabulous, Bobbie T considers herself to be more of a "trusted girlfriend or go-to-gal"-someone who can help you navigate through your inevitable fashion, beauty and life queries. She says she doesn't claim to be an authority on style (although she is), she just wants to lend her perspective and resources to all those in the market for advice and guidance. Despite actually being an "expert" she remains totally relatable and down-to-earth. The fab. Ms. B is passionate about communicating her belief that "style is the way to speak to the world without words," and empowering others "to embrace their style as a positive form of self expression".

I recently chatted with the "resident red carpet voice" about her beauty philosophy and favorite products and loved hearing what she's 'buzzing' about. She dished on her love for mineral makeup, sulfate-free hair products, and clean-smelling perfume scents.

Mineral Makeup: The style editor says she's a big fan of the brand glōminerals and loves their Perfecting Powder. The finishing dust has a blend of vitamins and green tree extract and uses rice starch to create a matte finish. She also likes Physicians Formula Mineral Wear™ Talc-Free Bronzing Veil, which is ideal for sensitive skin and doesn't leave a chalky-finish. Thomas says, "mineral makeup is great because it offers built-in antioxidant protection and SPF coverage".

I find that the zinc in mineral powders (which provide the UV protection) tend to make darker skin, like mine, look too white. Bobbie's solution: Add a base with skin correcting properties. MAKE UP FOR EVER's HD Microperfecting Primers come in six color-correcting shades that help counteract natural skin tone issues. For example their shade 4 Caramel combats ashiness in medium to dark skin tones and warms golden skin tones. Another  solution:  Mix mineral makeup with your choice of bronzer so you get the coverage and look but still have a natural-looking warmth to your face.
To set powder in place and hydrate the skin Bobbie likes to use gloMoist hydration mist, a skin spritzer that has a blend of antioxidants and anti-aging benefits.

Hair Products-Bobbie's signature long gorgeous hair always looks healthy and voluminous. Her hair philosophy: "the better your shampoo and conditioner is, the better your hair will look,". Thomas is a big supporter of sulfate-free products because some solutions contain too many harsh chemicals which strip your hair of moisture and color. She does however, have products favorites that run the hair care gamut:
Pureology is a sulfate-free, vegan, and certified organic botanical line. Bobbie loves the Hydrate System collection which restores dehydrated color-treated hair and maximizes color retention.
Profound Beauty is a hair care system that is personalized to suit your hair needs. After using their specialized online consultation technology, you'll be able to find the right combination to bring out your hair's natural luster.
Kerastase a stylist staple, has products to suit all your needs and truly works wonders on damaged, limp locks. Their MASQUE OLÉO-RELAX,
Daily Treatment Masque for Dry, Rebellious Hair is a lifesaver. The mask feels luxurious and moisturizes every inch of the hair to supple perfection.

Fragrance: Bobbie loves the clean, subtle smell of Perfect Veil, a perfume by Sarah Horowitz inspired by the smell of clean, naked skin! She says, rather than smelling like Beyonce or J.Lo, why not smell like yourself!

Thanks to Bobbie for her great beauty tips! Check out Bobbie's fab. segments on The Today Show as well as all other news and info on Ms. T here! Follow her on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube too! Oh yeah and follow me on Twitter (@beautybuffblog) here!

2010 Cannes Film Festival

Check out the latest photos from the 2010 Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. The Ridley Scott directed, Russell Crowe starring film, Robin Hood, opened the festival tonight. The movie's stars, Crowe and Cate Blanchett, looked regal on the red carpet, while other celebs like Salma Hayek (wearing the first ever Gucci Haute Couture gown), Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsale all came out to support the film and (let's be honest) look fabulous on the red carpet. If you're in Cannes for the Film Festival right now, you want to be seen  in the most innovative, fashion-forward confections at every event and occasion. Besides, the Oscars, this is the biggest fashion meets film event of the year and it's on an international stage which always ups the ante and changes the game. Luckily, celebs, namely Blanchett, always seem to rise to the occasion.  It was fantastic to see Bollywood starlet and Indian icon, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, represent at the premiere as well. She looked stunning as always. In fact, everyone looked like well-polished  24 Karat Gold perfection. I'm looking forward to seeing more fashion, film and fun as the festival progresses. Till then, check out the red carpet for the premiere of Robin Hood at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Beauty Buff's Lip Balm Hall of Fame!

For me having dry lips is like having chapped, moisture-hungry hands; not to be over dramatic, but it's excruciatingly uncomfortable. I need soft, happy lips at all times. I've tried a lot of balms in my day and some work wonders while others make my lips feel even more dry. How is that even possible? Here's a collection of my favorite lip treatments. The balms I swear by, can't live without and am borderline addicted to. They each provide a unique texture, scent, and feeling on the lips and all work mini-miracles. Check out my top Beauty Buff-approved beauty balms to silken even the roughest lips in the business.

Rosebud Lip Salve-This perennial favorite can be seen tossed in the handbags of most young ladies and with good reason. This old school salve satiates even the driest lips and makes your pucker feel glossed and smooth for hours. It not only gives your pout a healthy flush but it also relieves dry skin, rough cuticles and hands in desperate need of moisture.

EOS (Evolution of Smooth)-This futuristic looking balm is more than just aesthetically appealing. The geometric shape actually helps when applying the sweet mint flavor on your lips. The roundness of the solid balm and firm grip of the container smooths effortlessly over the lips. The wallet-friendly lip treatment is also eco-friendly and ridiculously relieving on the lips. It's one of my most fav. new beauty finds.

Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 is a soothing potent petroleum skin protectant with a dash of SPF. This no-nonsense balm is perfect for dry weather when skin is cracked and chapped but also perfect to apply all year long. It coats the lips with a thick cooling solution that tingles the skin and keeps moisturizing all day so you don't have to think about reapplying for hours. Plus it's very dude-friendly-no frilly smells here!

Julie Hewett Camellia Lip Balm is a delicate blend of mostly organic ingredients including essential oils like rose, camellia and orange. Camellia Oil is closest to our own natural oils which makes it absorb quickly and refresh the skin in a unique way. The addictive balm comes in a easy to use pot or lipstick application and is heavenly on the lips.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 is made with reparative oils, waxes and real sugar for a sweet taste and cushiony texture. The SPF provides important protection against damaging UV rays but the balm isn't sticky and gently exfoliates as it softens. Overall a fantastic treatment option.

Labello Lip Balms-I first tried Labello when I was on vacation in Italy five years ago. Their lip products are very much a European mainstream staple. I've been OBSESSED with the brand ever since and can't get enough of the balms that have a cult status across the pond. I've raved about the tinted lip hues-They are my absolute favorite ever-but I can't speak enough about their collection of lip treatments. The formulas are creamy, smooth and smell amazing. Try their Milk & Honey Lip Balm, available online, you won't regret your purchase but be warned you might end up taking a European excursion just to stock up on these addictive lip savers!

Elemis Lip Revive is a petroleum free balm. It comes out looking a little gooey but isn't sticky at all and makes your lips supple and soft. Japanese wild mint and peppermint oils keep your breath fresh and lips tingling. A great addition to any makeup bag.

MET Gala Makeup-Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington's flawless face stood out just as much as her gorgeous crimson draped Thakoon for The Gap dress at Monday night's MET Gala. Celebrity makeup artist Carola Gonzales created Washington's dazzling look that highlighted the deep red hue of her outfit and bronzed complimenting accessories. I love finding out what products are used on celebrities with darker skin tones as it's always a challenge to figure out which shades, products and brands work best for a wider skin color spectrum. The makeup guru has also worked with The Office star and fellow Indo, Mindy Kaling, at this year's Golden Globe Awards and for a recent appearance on the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, so she definitely knows what shades work for us tanner tones.

Here's what Gonzales did to achieve Kerry's sultry stare:

SKIN: After moisturizing the skin, Gonzales applied Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer in SC-6. "This concealer is great for darker skin tones. I use it on most of my African American clients. I also use it on Zoe Saldana," she says. Gonzales then applied makeup artist favorite, Giorgio Armani Luminous Foundation in shade #11 and accentuated her cheeks with Stila Convertible Cream Blush in Rose.

EYES: To create her smoky stare, Gonzales amped up the eye with a blackened outline. She used MAC Carbon Black Eye Shadow all over the eyelid and the outer bottom lash line and lined the inside of the bottom eye and top of the upper lash line with MAC Black Eye Liner. She created an even more dramatic eye by adding MAC #1 Fake Lashes.

LIPS: To contrast the intense eye and not take away from the dress, Gonzales kept the star's lips almost bare. All she added on was a swipe of MAC Cremesheen Glass in Boy Bait.

Beauty On The Run With The Beauty Buff-Multipurpose & Magical!

Life is all about organizing all your little components into smaller more efficient components so you have room for other components and then repeating the process all over again! What I'm really saying is life is easier with less stuff cluttering your bag, life and brain. When your wallet is also your check book and your cell phone is also your iPOD and map and mini computer you have less stuff and life is easier. It's also the subject of that recent car (?) insurance or bank commercial!?

In beauty, products that serve multiple purposes are space and life savers. No more bag, drawer, table or life cluttered with stuff!

Here are a few of my favorite beauty finds that not only serve multiple purposes but contain the keys to a cluttered-free easy breezy, beauty on the run-kinda existence.

Votre Vu's Duette Luxe Lip Balm and Hand Crème. You'll never smell anything more tasty and delicious. The tube contains a rich lathering hand cream that smells like a mixture of cake batter, warm, decadent almond and coconut meringue pie and cupcakes all in one. It's everything you'd ever want to smell. The cream contains grape seed, sunflower and jojoba oils and nourishes the skin as much as it intoxicates your senses. The cap opens up to reveal a moisturizing balm that makes your lips feel satiny. The formula isn't heavy but contains equally nourishing essentials that keep your lips protected.

Jimmyjane's Ember Natural Massage Oil Candles  are soy based candles that burn up to 72 hours and have a reusable porcelain container. Once the candle burns the paraffin/lead-free wax sufficiently, the oils can be poured onto the skin and used as massage oil or a moisturizer. The moisturizer is absolutely softening on the skin and makes your skin smell delicious and glow. Scents include: Habanero + Grapefruit, Saffron + Neroli, Coriander + Quince, Ginger + Date, Lychee + Lapsang and Truffle + Gardenia.

Kai Body Buffer is an exfoliating sponge that's used to cleanse the skin. The inside of the sponge contains a sweet smelling blend of exotic perfumes and natural essences including palm, coconut and olive oil. It's the perfect two in one for the shower and releases kai's unique smelling signature fragrance of exotic gardenia and other potent floral mixtures.

Model Co's FLUIDSPLASH 3 In 1 Foundation is a tube of liquid foundation that comes with a eye base and concealer conveniently hidden in the lid. The water-based foundation gives blendable and buildable coverage and feels light and airy on the skin. The concealer and eye base is enriched with Vitamin E and Aloe Vera and doesn't cake on the skin.

NARS The Multiple has already taken on a cult like status. You've heard me highlight the product numerous times on the site and with good reason. Makeup artists everywhere use one of the many shades to illuminate the skin of their starlet subjects. The Multiple was used at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, and oodles of red carpet events. It's just legit great and there's a shade that perfection for each and every one of us. Plus it's a "does-it-all" product. The stick is the original all-in-one, cream to powder, multipurpose beauty tool. It sculpts, highlights and warms the eyes, cheeks, lips and body.

Kate Dillon Becomes the New Face of Suki

Suki is one of my new favorite eco-friendly skin care lines. I've been on a total green product kick since Earth Day and seriously love all the organic options on the market today. Suki products are sold online and at your locale Whole Foods' Whole Body locations so the temptation of testing out the whole line (and if browsing turns to buying so be it…) has definitely been all too easy for me.

If you haven't tried the 100% pure and synthetic-free line you MUST! I love their Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser made with lemon grass, rice flour and sugar-tasty enough to eat but even more amazing on the skin-and their Balancing Day Lotion-made with willow bark for active 15% salicylic acid and natural retinol to calm and sooth the skin.

The brand is adding a familiar face to their family with the addition of  new spokesperson, Kate Dillon. The model and eco-activist is celebrating her new role by having a meet and greet with founder, Suki Kramer at the Whole Foods' Whole Body location in NYC's Chelsea neighborhood TODAY from 5-7 pm! Dillon and Kramer will be on hand for pictures and to answer any burning skincare questions and product inquires you might have. Dillon is a long time fan of the products and proud to be their "real woman representative". Kramer said she was thrilled to have the model on board because she is such a well rounded, highly educated environmentalist and totally embodies the "know your beauty" Suki philosophy.

If you're a New Yorker, stop by the Chelsea location today and enter to win an exclusive $250 Suki product basket. If you spend $40 or more at Whole Body in Chelsea, receive a free week of classes at YogaWorks.

Whenever I enter the Whole Body store section of the store, I feel instantly transported into a eco-beauty haven. So definitely go check out all their products at your locale WF's. Do note that the products come with a Whole Foods-type price tag, but with that comes plenty of bang for your buck and your skin will thank you!

Check out Suki's Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser and my other favorite eco-beauty picks here!
