Hot Fall Hue: Gray

Gray hues were a big nail color trend I saw on the runways at New York Fashion Week this year. Muted tones of bark, muddy-gray and asphalt were used to complete the Fall 2010 looks at Marc Jacobs, Malandrino and Rag & Bone. Gray is a beautiful and extremely versatile color.

It adds a polished, unique finish and compliments any shade you're wearing. It also makes colors like yellow, turquoise and red pop, so pairing it with colorful accessories will make your outfit shine.

Master nail pro Roxanne Valinoti said, "The gray nail will be the "it" color this Fall because it so perfectly complements the menswear-inspired silhouettes on the runway. It's a modern spin on the dark nail, flattering for all skin tones and adds a spice of femininity to a masculine shade."

Fashion Week staple, CND, created the looks at these fan favorite shows and divulged what murky shades these used to paint these fashion-forward nail beds.

Rag & Bone

Valinoti created an androgynous, menswear-inspired manicure with shades Asphalt and Super Matte for a gorgeous heather gray nail.

Malandrino

Angi Wingle created a bark hued, leather-like manicure with Dark Ruby layered with Copper Shimmer and topped with Super Matte to complement the Mongolian Nomad-inspired collection.

Marc By Marc Jacobs & Marc Jacobs

Valinoti (with Elisa Ferri) created a gorgeous, girly manicure by grooming with Solar Oil and using polish Rose Water topped with Air Dry to match minimal makeup and simple texturized hair. For the Marc Jacobs show, Valinoti and Ferri created five shades of gray ranging from creamy-brown-gray to light lavender beige in order to complement the gorgeous runway palette.
