Keri Hilson: Grammy Goddess

The Grammys are an awards show made for the celebs who want to see and be seen (so basically everyone). It seems like ever since Lady Gaga arrived on the scene, no matter how outrageous the outfits and accessories are, it all looks kind of tame. Sadly, if JLo wore her iconic green plunging to the belly (put her on the fashion map) Versace gown today, I'm not so sure people would give it a second look. Ha! Of course they would, but you get the point. While the outfits never fail to mesmerize, astonish and sometimes force you to avert your eyes (every Lil' Kim outfit ever), the hair and makeup range from restrained to ethereal and from dramatic to Lady Gaga (two words now synonymous with performance art-type drama).

Keri Hilson's stand out look was my favorite of the night and here are some suggestions on how to recreate the look:

Hilson looked resplendent in her stunning pale peachy nude Dolce and Gabanna mermaid curve-hugging dress. Her jewel-toned smokey eyes are one of the most unique, dramatic yet quietly romantic looks of the night. She looked seriously unbelievable. I loved the eggplant shades against her sparkly hazel eyes and caramel colored lips and dewy skin that gave her a flawless finish. To recreate the look yourself, Realbeauty.com suggests "using a cream shadow like CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlast in Purple Plumes as a base, then applying a shimmery lavender powder shadow to create a rich intensity. [Then using] a small brush to dab gold pigment in the inner corners and rimming your lids with a stripe of black liner and finally applying false lashes." They suggest finishing off the look with several coats of Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume Blasting Mascara to blend the fake lashes with your real ones.

I am all about the purple eyeshadow tones so this is a look I'll be trying immediately. I'll keep you posted on my purple reign!
